The Skoda Kodiaq is as good an all-rounder in 2022 as it was when it launched five years ago. It's nice to drive, easy to live with, solidly built and won't break the bank. It's comfortable, practical, great looking and far more car than the Fabia - but will come with all the associated extra costs of a bigger and better kitted car.

Petrol and, while the Superb goes very well with the 1.4TSI 150 engine, you're going to need more to lug the blunter Kodiaq along, so better the 2.0 TSI 180 that still has 320Nm torque and no AdBlue heater or DPF to worry about.
